***APRIL 2015 ACT DISCUSSION THREAD***

Anyone want to predict the curve?

My guess would be -2 for math (since people are complaining A LOT), -1 for English, pretty harsh for Reading (looks like people all did well), maybe lenient (-1 or -2) on science (opinions really divide on this one)

DAMNIT I THINK MY SCORE WENT DOWN NOOOOOOOO

I think science is iffy because a lot required “outside information.”

@TrazCapDEV That’s very generous.

I’d say:
0 English
-1 Math
0 Reading
-1 Sci.

Merp, editing because HarvardPliss edited, heheheeueheu.

@Newdle My bad, I just looked at the most recent. I edited my original post.

What is typically the curve for the test?

I thought that the reading was hard, but I did get nauseous half way through.

English: really good
Math: pretty good, I though a couple were tough but I finished on time and was relatively confident
Reading: no
Science: Ok, I ran out of time and wasn’t able to answer like 5 but I think I got the ones I answered right

@curiousminds01 It’s honestly really hard to tell, because it can vary so much between each test based on the difficulty of the sections. Since everyone is giving their ideas on this month’s curve, here’s what I think you need for a 36:

English: -1 ; Math: -1 ; Reading: -0 ; Science: -1

I took the ACT in September - today was my second time. I thought the math section was MUCH more difficult than the September version. I’m currently in AP Calc AB. I probably missed at least 5 questions, but I was hoping to get higher than a 31… :frowning: Maybe the curve will be lenient?
I thought science was relatively easy.

“Reading: no”
Man, you must have BOMBED.

Last part of science was near impossible, English v. good, math was more difficult than normal, and reading was fine but I completely ran out of time. I’m pretty sure my score is going to drop incredibly. f u c k

@EverybodyHz don’t say that :stuck_out_tongue: ok so I was getting 33s on reading on my practice tests and now idk

Gonna be honest, I didn’t finish the math section. I had about 5 questions left and elected not to start guessing after time was called - I figured a bunch of wrong answers at the end would raise red flags that I bubbled outside of the given time, which my proctor explicitly mentioned like 5 times not to do. Should I have at least guessed or would they have detected that and invalidated my score?

My son thought everything was somewhat easy but the Science, which he said the questions were tricky. He finished completely with time to spare in all areas.

What do you guys think about the difficulty?
I thought:
English: Pretty easy with a couple tough ones
Math: Pretty easy, especially the last 10
Reading: Honestly, I can’t remember anything about this section…probably pretty average
Science: Hard, though it is always my worst.

No, they advise doing that as long as it’s in the time limit. I finished English and Math really early and I ran out of time for Reading and only had some time left for Science. When we had 1 min left for both I put in random answers for the ones I couldn’t answer

@EverybodyHz you should have guessed if you had time. Act doesn’t deduct points for guessing.
