April Fools Day

but to have that on your birthday merely intensifies the suckiness we feel.

I would prefer to have a rejection immediately followed by an acceptance. This is why I'm going to open all of my college letters at once so I will surely know about the acceptances as well as the rejections

umm...wouldn't u know by the sizes of the envelopes before u open them? but i know what u mean, i don't think i want to know the decisions they send by email or post online...gonna try to wait for all the snail mails

Many schools sent the letter first and then all the information later. A large envelope means that you are admitted and a small envelope can be ambiguous. I want to check my e-mail and internet because I am already stressing enough now that I don't think I could wait.

I'll have my parents intercept the mail and open the letters from each college and then I'll read each individual letter to see the results

As for the big vs. small envelope: That's not always the case.

Harvard will have sent you an email already though, so you will already know.

Only if you ask for email notification/have the guts to read it without deleting straight away :p

but yeah, to return to the original topic- hoax emails could be sent and it would be free :p
Anyone got a harvard.edu email address?

Well, you'll be able to verify it--if you can log in to the admitted students' page on April 1st using your pin, you got in. lol :)

good point :) so you're probably able to log in now, right?

Just wondering...do applicants normally RECEIVE their letters on April 1 or do the colleges normally SEND them on April 1. Because if they don't send them til the 1st then it could be a couple of days, or maybe more, after the 1st until you get word from some colleges.

my understanding is that the letters are sent on April 1st

Yeah, so for those of you who are holding out for snail mail: Good luck with that.

It will suck for you when everyone else knows via-email and you're waiting around for the mailman...just a thought.

reading this thread is making me queasy. I just pictured myself receiving the rejection email and deleting it really quickly without thinking..at the same time..throwing up...ahh!

or, imagine if you got the acceptance email but thought that it was the rejection email, and threw up

personally, if I get into HYPS I will probably faint and then when I'm resucitated, jump for joy.

I'll only puke if I don't get in any of my top 10 choices

I am already planning what I am going to do when I don't get into my top 3. Transferring is sounding better and better every day.

i guess its nice to tell yaself you can always transfer..but, still itll hurt like a beech when u get rejected..i expect to get rejected but still when it actually happens..it hurts!...I didnt get rejected yet from any of my schools. OMG what if my first rejection is from an IVY..thats hard to take..I MUST GET A REJECTION b4 this to get used to the pain!

here ... REJECTED... happier?

Actually I think it would be best to get accepted everywhere else and just think that the school that rejected you is stupid because everyone else seems to want you.

$7,400.

Sorry, had to go ahead and do the math.
