So I am having some trouble deciding my AP’s for next year. I need some advice of these 4 AP’s and how easy or hard they were.
AP Literature
AP Physics 1
AP US History
AP Environmental Science
I also am required to take Spanish level 4(advanced) and Precalc next year no matter what.
And all of this gives me one 1 hour and 10 minute study hall. Do you think this is too much and I should take 3 or 4 is okay? I don’t really know how hard or easy these AP’s are…
It depends a LOT on your strengths and how your school approaches these courses. At my son’s school (they start after Labor Day so prep for AP’s is a bit tighter than at schools that start in mid-August), AP US History is very rigorous (lots of reading, outlining, writing etc.), AP physics 1 was pretty easy/straightforward and good prep for part of Physics C, AP Envir is not too demanding (and not really considered “heavy hitter”), AP Lit depends a lot on the teacher and the book selections and writing assignments - can you go online and see any of the assignments for this year’s students for these courses? Also, go on the College Board website and look at the AP curriculum for each & you can see released exams as well - do some digging. And also ask your guidance counselor if you can - about these courses and other options - remember electives and courses in your area of interest are helpful and likely as or more enjoyable too! Hope this helps some.
I am a junior in ap gov, apush, ap lit, ap physics 1 and pre calc. I am also playing a sport with practice 6 days a week and im doing fine, 4 aps is not too much if you are fine with 1-2 hours of hw a night on average. Every school is different though. Physics 1 is my favorite class and if you like math and can visualize things easy its not bad. Lit is sort of a joke at my school and its extremely easy untill you hit the tests lol. I hate english with all my hard and i struggle in this class its alot of interpretation. apush is just alot of memorization I really enjoy the class but im a history nerd alot of people really hate it though. I cant speak to apes but its an extremely easy ap at my school from what i hear.
I would talk to your guidance counselor at your HS and any friends who are currently in those classes. The rigor of APs can depend in part on the school, the teacher etc.
As an aside in our HS a student cannot take AP Physics without taking Calc concurrently so be sure that schedule is allowed in your HS.
