I'm going to be a sophomore next year and I know I'm definitely going to take APUSH. I was also wondering whether I should take Gov AP second semester. Will it help? I'm pretty sure that there's a government unit in APUSH(hopefully), our APUSH teacher has been teaching a long time and is a really good teacher, but is also the hardest history AP class from what I've heard. Our Gov AP teacher is more lenient on grading but also teaches very well from what I've heard

So anyways, will taking APUSH help me in Gov AP? If so, is it significant, a little help, or no? What do have to learn for the Gov AP class that you don't need for APUSH? Btw, I'm wondering how hard the APUSH and Gov AP exams are. Easy, medium, or hard, or in between.

And how time-consuming is Gov? I ask this because all my classes are AC or AP classes next year, except English.

By the way, Gov AP is usually taken by juniors, and APUSH by sophomores

taking APUSH will definitely help you with Gov. Gov is in general a pretty easy AP if you know anything about politics; a friend of mine who follows the news didn’t study and got a 5. I’m taking APUSH right now and I’m taking the AP Gov test in May since it’s pretty easy to self-study. So at least at my school, the Gov class is not challenging, and unless your school doesn’t prepare students well for APs, the exam should be pretty easy (the APUSH exam is pretty hard, especially if you’re learning all the info in 1 year. i think it’s manageable, but there’s a lot of memorization if you want to get a 5). So unless your Gov class has a reputation for being hard, i’d say go for it! :)

I have two kids. One took them concurrently, the other took US first, then Gov. Either way works, though taking US first helps on a few topics. Both together would be pretty heavy on reading.

I’ve decided that I’ll take both classes. However, I want to get a review book over the summer to help study for APUSH. I asked my friend and he said the APUSH teacher is really hard in grading and tests, but as a result almost everyone gets a 4 or 5. The Gov AP teacher, from what I’ve heard, is more nicer in tests and grading, but still teaches you well for the AP exam.

Yea, so what review book should I get for APUSH preview over the summer? I might be overreacting but our APUSH teacher is harder than our World Hist AP and Euro AP teachers. Kind of crazy too. Should I get Princeton? Barrons? Do I have to learn anything beforehand thats not in the review books?

Also, what semester should I take Gov AP? Does APUSH cover the government section before semester one ends usually?

At least in my APUSH class, there was no Government unit. It honestly would not have helped me at all with the US Gov AP. That was just my experience and it might be different where you are.

Also, Gov was extremely easy and APUSH is harder but not really hard. As far as review books are concerned, I use Princeton Review but my teacher recommends 5 Steps to a 5.
