What's AP Government like?

Is it stressful? A lot of memorizing facts? My school is teaching AP Gov for the first year this year. I was wondering what the nature of this course was like to decide whether or not I should take it. I had to drop two classes (Latin 3 and art) to squeeze this course into my schedule. Since I haven't fulfilled my art credits yet, I might not graduate but I'd rather take government. There's not really a prequisite for this class but I have taken a full year of US History. Would that be enough though?

It’s said to be very easy in comparison to APUSH.

APUSH = ffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

Honestly, I work hard, and AP gov. is my hardest class, out of AP Spanish, Ap English, Ap Stats. Right now i need to make csf my next to semesters to graduate in white, and I am freaking out i am gonna get a D and not graduate in white. So for me Ap Gov is HARD! but depends on the teacher too. My teacher is the harder Ap gov teacher, so it might differ, the concept is easy but the test are tricky.

My Ap Gov teacher says “Forget everything you learned in APUSH” cause it doesnt help you here

My D has taken four AP classes so far, and APUSH has been the most work. AP Gov was taken in one semester, and she got a 5 on the exam. It was a lot of reading, mock court cases, analyzing, debates, group projects, and more reading. It wasn’t difficult - just a lot. By the way, this was AP US Gov and Politics, not AP Comparative Gov and Politics. There was a decent amount of memorizing, but APUSH seemed worse. It really wasn’t overwhelming at all. APUSH was definitely not a necessary prerequisite for AP Gov in her case.

I’m enrolled in it now. (It’s a graduation requirement in my county, but we call it “AP National, State, and Local Government”.)

I think AP classes can be fairly subjective because a lot rides on the teacher and his or her style. We’re only a few days in, but it doesn’t seem so bad. It’s pretty reading intensive, though, and you obviously have to retain facts and be able to connect terms, but it’s really not hard if you pay attention. Watching the news and/or reading a paper every day or every other day really helps a lot. It can be a little dry if you’re not naturally interested (I am) but it’s not particularly hard.

Good luck!
