<p>The Pilgrims did not use tobacco as a cash crop... lol</p>
<p>BTW I just found my outline for what i wrote for the DBQ, I forgot about this test...</p>
<p>Economic:
- agrarian society, although starting to think about industrialization due to the break with the mother country britain
- westward expansion = increase in farming - land ordinance of 1785, northwest ordinance of 1787 = only form of government income under the articles
- no trade regulation under the articles and unstable currencies = no tariffs, no federal money for internal improvements and military(shays rebellion) etc...
- post constitutional convention --> more government regulation, gives the feds the power to collect revenue</p>
<p>Social:
- increased agrarian society and westward expansion = institution of slavery increased
- Despite Womens protests, still no rights
- Dec of Independence made white males think about natural rights --> property, liberty, and life.
- Westward Expansion mutes the proclomation of 1763 and makes it acceptable for americans to move on to Native American Lands
- I think I had more but forgot</p>
<p>Political:
- Articles - Unicameral legislature, they fail
- Constitutional Convention - written by wealthy aristocrats - more government power compromised with the Bill of Rights
- Beginning of the Two party system - Federalists and Anti Federalists
- Separation of Powers - legislature, executive, judicial.
- no rights for people who are not white males.</p>
<p>hm on the college board 2004 grading rubric they say that the 8-9 essay uses a "substantial" number of documents, and the 5-7 essay uses "some" documents. whatever.</p>
<p>I literally fudged my entire Virginia essay, I honestly had no idea what I was talking about, probably got near the lowest possible score on that, but I know I wrote a kick-ass DBQ with unique document structure (at least in respect to my peers--i.e. didin't follow the 'guide' in the question of economic, social, political, did my own thing), I did well on the MC, and my last essay (the one on 60's stuff) was pretty good. I ended up with a 4.</p>
<p>And whoever said you need to use ALL documents doesn't know what they're talking about. My friend panicked and only used 4 documents and ended up with a 4.</p>
<p>I think you are letting your frustration get in the way of the context of the post. The poster specifically asked about the core for the DBQ alone. I told him the general breakdown to get a good score on the DBQ, not the entire exam...</p>
<p>Yeah, I chose essay #2 and got a 5. I did make one mistake in saying that the Massachusetts colony was based on textiles during that time period, rather than shipbuilding, but my points about the economical affects of Massachusetts politics in that period were still correct, so this, my APUSH teacher told me, would only be considered a "minor error."</p>
