ok so i have a paper to write. the assignment is to analyze the importance of something that someone not so popular in history did. it's a 3 page paper that has to be dense w/ information and my teacher grades VERY hard.

so in a nutshell, i chose to write about Edwin M. Stanton from the Civil War (1860s). I am going to be writing my essay (well essentially a tiny research paper) about why he believed black men were necessary for the victory of the civil war. but i need someone to tell me whether this is a good intro. i'm not too sure how to make a good intro to this essay because everything i've written seems to be something that should be long in the body paragraph. so here's my intro, please give me feedback on at least whether the thesis is good.

it's urgent. my paper is due tomorrow :[ help please and thanks in advance.
