After studying for the AP version, is it possible to get an 800 with just that knowledge or do you have to do some outside studying for specifically the SAT 2 US History exam?

bump 10 char

anyone? lol

I’m reading the AMSCO prep for the AP USH test and the SAT II test, so I guess I’m kind of combining them into one study sesh. I don’t see a reason why one would need to prep separately for the subject test.

I have the sparknotes AP us history book, is that good enough to score an 800 on the subject test? and what is amsco? ive heard of it but not too much in detail.

I took APUSH and the US History Subject Test last year, in May and June respectively. I prepped very heavily for the AP - I’m a totally history buff and I really went over the top, using multiple review books (including AMSCO).

Then, after May, I did about nothing. I read part of a Barrons review book in the few days before the subject test. I got a 790, and a friend who “studied” similarly, got an 800. While you should probably become familiar with the SAT format vs. the AP, I feel that it’s definitely possible to get an 800 with minimal studying. (:

i got a 4 on the AP U.S. History test and the week before the AP test i took the Subject test i got a 760 on the SAT II. that is just an example of what happened to me

I apologize for the ignorance, but can anyone link to the product referred to as “AMSCO”? Also, although this is an AP preparatory book, would it be the best option for someone wanting to study for the Subject Test from scratch? If not, what do you recommend?

^Here’s the AMSCO book.

[Amazon.com: United States History: Preparing for the Advanced Placement Examination (9781567656602): John J. Newman: Books](http://www.amazon.com/United-States-History-Preparing-Examination/dp/1567656609)

^ Thanks for the link.

I used the AMSCO (our teacher gave us all copies to borrow), although I barely prepared. I got an 800. I have yet to take the APUSH exam, but based on how I did (coupled with my lack of preparation: SAT II physics was more worrying to me at the time, lol), you should do fine with even a little bit of AP studying.

Wow thanks for all the help guys! Im taking the math level 2, physics, and chemistry Sat 2’s next year(soph) and wanted to show more breadth so i want to take USH SAT after i finish APUSH in junior year.

My son used the AMSCO book and the AP USH Crash Course book to prepare for both the AP (5) and SAT II (780). The AMSCO book is very comprehensive (a huge book) and has more info than you need for either test. The AP Crash Course book is much more concise and very focused on what will be on the test. If you are pressed for time I would get the Crash Course book.
