A Different Mirror by Robert(?) Takaki

a people's history of the united states - zinn
profiles in courage - kennedy

We have to read The Jungle by Upton Sinclair. I've heard it's a great book.

oo. well i dont know for sure if i will be taking APUSH, but i know the summer reading includes out of our past by degler also.

"we just have to read the first six chapters of the text book and take notes on all of them."
superstarr i think you go to my school.

Read "Founding Brothers" and either "Gods and Generals" or "Killer Angels"
Believe me, it will help, even though Founding Brothers is a bit boring.

we had to read Undaunted Courage (Ambrose) , and Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee (Dee Brown)

We had to read Zinn's Peoples' History of the US during the school year - but he is great so it wasn't a big deal.

Last year we had to read Founding Brothers (take notes and do a journal) and read the first five chapters of the textbook and take notes on that too

Our textbook was by some crazy cat named Bailey. We didn't have to read any summer books.

I had to read five chapters of the text book (American Pageant III) and Hofstadter's book on American colonial history.

Our textbook was the AMSCO AP Preparation book. Very condensed but concise.

<3 zinn.

we had to teach ourselves the first 5 chapters of the american pageant and do extensive study guides, read and answer questions on 3 historical essays/documents, and do 3 online activities.

..i waited until two days before school began, and that was unfortunate. lol

I have summer assignments for lit, bio, and chem fo sho, but not sure what yet...but they did in the past. History never did, but there is a new APUSH for next year PROBABLY so that may change, but hopefully not.

Summer reading is required for all English and AP Social Studies classes. Math almost was able to get their punches in but failed, to the chagrin of some here.
