what books do yall use and what time period are you at?
we use the american pageant 12th edition
and we have a test on chap 6-8 tuesday (american revolution)

i start school on tuesday.

we use the american pageant but i think it might be the 11th edition? i cant remember.

Oh my gosh. You're using American Pageant... brace yourselves for some baaadd puns.

It was the book I used last year. What a groaner. Consider yourself warned =)

we use The Enduring Vision 5th Edition
& the first day of school(sept. 6) i have a test on the first 2 chapters

we dont have summer homework at my school. no classes do.

American History: a survey

test tuesday

has anyone bought prep books yet?

haha that book is hilarious. I implore you to keep a running count of how many times "reared its ugly head" appears in the text.

I thought the American Pageant was great, though my real life saver was [well I think it's titled] The Great American Fact-Finder or something like that, I pretty much read from this the week before the test, and I did fine, well a four, but considering CC I think that means I failed it ;)

We haven't gotten any summer assignment. Although teacher unofficially told us she might send A People's History of the United States but never sent :)

I used this.

I have an older edition in my (small) textbook collection.

Well we got American Pageant for our summer assignment, but we're supposed to turn them in once we come back to school this tuesday for a new book.

We used American Pageant...11th ed? It was oddly written, almost like a story, which was fun sometimes...other time not so much. I really wish I'd actually read more of it though (I got a 4 on the exam).

My personal favorite from the American Pageant was "Burr's pistol blew out the brightest brain out of the Federalist party". Either that or "People do not chop off heads so readily when they can chop down trees".

Oh man, good (bad?) memories.

Yeah I used the American Pageant too. I loved their descriptions of the presidents, you know, with their "piercing blue eyes." Totally NOT a waste of my time. But I started missing out on the book's full splendor when I started reading course notes instead.

We used the Pageant, too. I know a bunch of kids from other schools who did as well, so I think it's well known, probably even recommended to the AP teachers.

It's true that there are a lot of dumb jokes, but it really gives you a lot of detailed information so that the least you can take away are the fundamentals.

We also used the Pageant, though due to open enrollment there were so many people that the teacher ever checked to see if we read the book, so nobody did...

I myself only read the first chapter. Haha. Still got a 5.

We started off with Pageant, then switched to Liberty, Equality, Power 2nd semester.
Pageant is kinda inadequate compared to LEP, which is way more precise and factual in its presentation of the facts.

I like American Pageant; it was the best book I read in history classes. It made history interesting and entertaining. In class we never read much of it, though I wished we did. I would like to encounter this book again. I also like the book, The Fifties, by David Halberstam. The fifties is a pretty interesting time period.

Haha, the pageant gives you the height and weight of every figure in American history like it's a boxing match or something!
