APUSH supplemental textbook

I’m doing APUSH next year and want to get a review book over the summer to get a head start on the rest of the class, so I’m wondering which review book would be most similar to a condensed textbook that hits the highlights, and goes to some (but not unnecessary detail like regular textbooks) detail about them.
Like, if you were going to self-study AP US, which review book (Barron’s, PR, etc) would you want to use?

I used Kaplan for APUSH, plus the flashcards. My teacher told us never to get Barron’s for APUSH- she said they don’t know anything…She recommended that everyone got either Kaplan or PR.

I would order US History in a Flash by Direct Hits. It was the consensus top performing prep book on this year’s APUSH exam. Now way would I get Kaplan!

US History in a Flash by Direct Hits easily.

As a supplement, I highly recommend Amsco. It contains a lot of details and is perfect as a supplement or even perhaps replacement for studying for a class exam.

US History in a Flash is more of a book to use to study for the exam, not for the class. In my opinion anyways.

use this site: [- AP US History Exam Review Course -](http://www.apexamreview.com)

its great and free.

Although it seemed to perform well on past AP exams, I dont think DH performed too well on this year’s AP exam in the multiple choice portion. I used American Pagaent textbook, took about 100 pages of notes, then condensed all my notes to about 20 pages through DH. However, I have to say it was a lifesaver for the essay and I do think it helped with chronological order as my textbook is in terrible chronological order.
