i'm a freshman at Georgetown thinking of transferring to Pomona. I've already taken Arabic for a year and I don't want to have to switch languages--does Pomona offer Arabic courses? I notice on the website there isn't even an Arabic department.

I just checked our course listings online (which require a Pomona or Claremont Colleges password). "Arabic I" was offered at Claremont Graduate University this past fall. They don't list anything for the upcoming semester, but I don't know if that necessarily means that they aren't offering it. I know either last year or the year before, they unofficially offered the course at Oldenborg (the language dorm/dining hall) on certain nights. You're required to take up to the third semester of a language at Pomona, so if you do your third semester in the spring at Georgetown, that might count, which means you won't have to take it here. I'd definitely double check with the registrar and admissions office about that though.

hi, i knowlast semester intro arabic was offered at claremont graduate university, and pomona students were able to enroll. however, i didn't see it in the course catalog for next semester, and i don't know if it was offered in previous years or will be offered in the future. it's probably best to call pomona and ask about transfer credit. i dont know if they would make you take a new language if you have already taken one that isn't offered by the school.
