The UAE is hot but you won't spend your time outside in the daytime anyways so it doesn't really matter. I don't know of any programs though sorry :(

but people go places during the day so...

I'm thinking of attending a Concordia Language Village. They offer summer language programs in many different languages such as Arabic, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Swedish, etc.

that sounds like a good idea^

you know, Arabic is an extremely hard language to learn. It has these completely pointless and useless grammar rules that you'll never use and has over 2 million words. It took me a few years to master it.

Took you a few years to master it? What the heck, aren't you Egyptian?

And Egypt's as hot as helllll. Whatever, the weather itself might not be that bad -- but with the horrid traffic, it really feels like your skin is peeling off. Seriously.

I think the American School of Kuwait here has an exchange program, but I'm not too sure. Ohh, there's this place here called Amideast, it arranges for students to study in the States as exchange students, but they might do it the other way around too.

um...hello! I gave him the amideast website above!
heat here is NOTHING compared to what it's like in Kuwait ir the UAE! Here I can walk for 5 minutes without looking like I just came out of the shower.

btw, I was in an American school in Saudi Arabia from KG through the 5th grade. I didn't start speaking Arabic till I was like 9 so it took me a while to learn it. Now (at 15) I'm fluent.

But in the UAE you wouldn't be walking around for 5 minutes in the sun! The farthest you'll go is from your car to the door usually (unless you play outdoor sports in the daytime which is unusal in the summer).

LoL.. That's true!

Same in Kuwait.

And at least everywhere has AC here. I just about died in Cairo when I went in the summer. The only place that had proper AC was my hotel (sheraton).

Yeah... Actually the heat in the Arabian Gulf is not that big a deal since everyone has an AC and our lifestyle revolves around the friggin AC! :)

I pity the people in say, France/Pakistan/India, where temps reach 40 degrees celsius and all they have are fans..

weather here isn't as hot as in the gulf, so people are much less dependant on the AC. I think Enn had a hard time here because she's used to having an AC 24/7 and not used to being in heat for too long.

It really makes me laugh to see the principal, VP and head of the American divison squander around school preparing for the arrival of CITA (CITAccreditaion). I'm sure you all know what it is. (PS: They're the dudes who can take away the school's license to teach the American curriculum).

Anyway, the once invincible principal is walking around like she's going to pee in her pants because they're trying to give a good impression. The "changes" have all been purely cosmetic. They're putting up signs and decorating the hallways with plants and giving the exterior a nice shine. It's funny to watch the people who think they are in charge panic and try to make the school look good for the people who are coming.
They even asked us to make these huge charts and drawings to give the classes some color. It's just so funny watching them run around like idiots.

Hahaha
My school didn't really care last year and that was when they were coming to accredit them! They just went along doing their business as usual. You see my school was so stuck up that they said they knew that they were going to get accredited and indeed they did.

My school is already accredited; they were just coming to check on stuff (i.e to see if it still deserved accreditation). They were supposed to come today, but they went to a few other schools first. They should come some time next week. (which might be difficult because next week is off because of eid and stuff...)

Has anyone heard the song "YaGali". It sounds Arabic to me; when was it released?

Yes.. Great song by "Guitarra". I think its a year old.

There is a Bollywood Hindi song which is a copy of Ya Ghali! Its called Ya Ali! lol!

Yeah, that father of Kavya -pritam- plagiarized. I am calling all the Newspapers in town;).

That song (by Guitarra) is like 5 years old. The last time the "music video" was on TV, I was barely 11 years old.
I didn't like it that much anyway.

Arabic music annoys me.

Anything Arabic annoys you. But whatever...
