Hi guys…
I’m a senior who just finished applying to colleges and I was just wondering about the presence and concentration of a certain group of people in college. Sooo, a little background, I’ve always been the sole Palestinian in school and I was wondering if higher up or elite institutions like ivies, liberal arts, other <15% acceptance rate colleges has a good handful of them. Idk I’m just curious, maybe I’m just tired of not really having that sense of community in the same picture as academics. Personal experience or statistics would be awesome. Thanks
I came from a high school with a lot of Middle Easterners like myself but once I got to my college, they made up <1% the school. You probably like the culture and language which may remind you of home. You may be able to find a club for Palestinians (or Middle Easterners in general), but it’s better if you forget about that and explore and meld yourself into groups you’re not used to being with.
Look at the colleges you have applied to and look at the clubs they have…see if there is a Middle Eastern related club. Contact them and ask about other Palestinian. Also look for “student facts” on the college websites and see if it talks about where the students come from.
Also maybe contact the educationusa center for the Palestinian territories…

and ask them which colleges other Palestinians have gone to.
Awesome, never thought of doing that. Thanks. I was born in America btw, so “groups that I’m used to” is basically everyone, I’m not around Palestinians ever, besides my family.
