I was just wondering,
we're all arabs (at least just the three of us), so do you two watch Arabic movies?
I do occasionally if nothing else is in the theatres. IMO they're not good unless they're comedy. Anything else is either stolen from an American movie or just really really stupid and poorly directed/acted/edited....
I went to see one today with a few friends, it was okay but I'd rather spend those 10 pounds on a movie made in Hollywood.

I personally don't watch eygptian movies (or any arabic movies for that matter). I would rather spend that money watching hollywood movies too personally.

Arabic movies are okay if you're loking to waste some time and have a few laughs. but American movies have much better stories and better special effects..which is the onlty reason I watch them.
do you speak any arabic wizard?

^yeah I speak arabic. I'm bilingual you know :)

PS: I never formally studies arabic cuz I lived in the US for ten years. I can still read and write though

lol jst making sure.

I never studied arabic before the sixth grade. I learned to speak it from all the boring black and white egyptian movies and then learned to write it at school.

would it be correct to assume that most Lebanese people speak French..or is that the influence of the media?
sorry about all the questions, I'm just interested.

Hey guys.
Um...I revived one of my old thread here in the international students forum. I think you can guess which one it is on your own lol. so go post in it pleeeeez

^that sounded way too desperate..but I don't care lol. :)

Uh in lebanon people either learn English or French as their second language and nowadays English is far more people popular. In the old days it was not but nowadays some lebanese speak french but by no means all.

Really depends on the area btw.

^ sounds just like Egypt. lol

Hey, did you know that there are only 22 people from the Middle East on CC.
I wonder why none of them have found this thread...

From the middle east? You sure? I really wouldn't have seen this thread cuz I usually don't post in the international forum so I just saw this thread by luck.

Because I haven't hit on them yet?
Maybe I should.

And Arabic movies suck. Although I did see this really, really good Moroccan movie once on TV, just caught about 20 minutes of it. I remember being blown away by it. Didn't understand a thing they were saying though... weird accent + a copious amount of French = me reading the English subtitles.

Wizard, I got those statistics from the thread at the top of the international students forum. It's called: "where are you from?"...it's always there.

Enn, who haven't you hit on? I looked at all the posts on this thread and couldn't figure it out. I must have missed something 0.o

^Ohh that's where you got them from. OK
I don't know much about this place (international students section)

where do you usually post? I post in the cafe, here, college life, HS life, and SAT prep.

I usually post in College Search and Selection, Parents Forum, Stanford (quite a lot there) and Engineering. Not much anywhere else.

^We post nowhere in common hahaha

yeah, but I'm still a high school student, so...

hey Enn, is there a city centre in Kuwait? There are like 20 in the middle east...how many, if any, does Kuwait have?
(There are two in Egypt)

Hey, I just felt like bumping this thread. No particular reason.

hi again, so I'll just talk to myself.

here are a few questions for you guys to answer when you get back:

Enn, why did you pick that screen name?
wizard, same question....

I'm thinking of other stuff to ask.....
