Some of my teachers are really tech savvy (my AP English teacher is Apple's number one fan) while some of my other teachers... aren't. (My art teacher can barely turn on his computer.) My art teacher was actually trying to put in grades on an online gradebook and ended up entering grades for a final exam that we had not taken yet. (I got a hypothetical 89, by the way, I was very disappointed.)

Do you have any stories of teachers who just cannot fathom technology?

YES! My French teacher is amazing but he cannot master the Smart board. Every time he tried to write something he ended up deleting his notebooks or locking the screen. Every time he tried to scroll, he ended up drawing all over the place. He ABSOLUTELY hates it…

This might be one of those things you’d have to be there for.

@Shaywood - Alas, the smart board is the bane of many of my teachers’ existences.

Much to our amusement. XD

Teacher: It’s not working…
Student: Try Alt + F4

Win. :)

My 8th grade english teacher was an older woman (she taught my mom and my mom says she was even old back then) and she could never figure out how to use anything. Instead of just hitting the red X to exit out of things she would go through File and Exit which took a considerable amount of time because our school had horrible internet at the time. Also, she had a document camera but she always had it pointed the wrong way so when she would turn it on, her face would pop up on the smartboard. It was one of the legit funniest things I had ever seen. She was so mean during class though…

My sociology teacher had his powerschool set up like this:

Quarter grades: 1:1:1 on homework, test, project points

Semester grade: 20% homework, 30% project, 50% test.

(I always feel compelled to point out that books, pencils, paper, etc. are all types of technology. They’re just not as advanced as computers.)

But yeah, I know what you mean.

I have yet to see a teacher at our school use a browser besides Internet Explorer - I think that in itself shows how inept they are.

But anyway, the school librarian once had to call in an IT guy, because a few kids at our school, including me, changed the names of the icons on the desktops of the computers in the library.

The first person who comes to mind is my history teacher. A self-proclaimed Luddite (that’s probably also the only vocab I remember from his class).

Yes! My favorite science teacher. It was so funny watching her try to get things running and in the end just calling up one of her students to do it.
