Are AP Calculus and Physics Necessary For A Medical Career?

Hello,
I am interested in doing something in the medical field in the future. I am a senior this year and need to decide if i should take any of these classes (AP Calculus and Regular Physics-non AP because school doesnt offer it). If you are going to persue a future in the medical field would you take these classes. Are they necessary/reccomended to take in high school so that when you take them in college they will be easier? or should i just get them over with in college which can be more trouble since the professors are more strict? Would you consider these classes hard?

Please get back to me since this question is critical at the moment,
Thanks

no way. most people go into college not knowing what they want to major in anyways. med schools dont care about high school classes, what matters is that you take the prereqs in college. sure, it might be easier for you to take ap calculus in preparation for college calc, but i know TONS of people who were premed (and yes, at prestigious schools), who didnt take ap sciences and math in high school, and are in med school.

but dont you think that taking calculus or physics is going to aid you in college?

of course, but none of them are required.

taking AP chem would aid me in college as well, so would taking AP English Lit, AP Spanish, etc.

do you think that the classes are worth taking in my senior year?

Yes .

I don't know if you want to take both of those classes or just one, but I would strongly recommend physics. AFAIK, not all med schools require calculus, but all require a year of physics. Since science grades are looked at very closely in the med school admissions process, it can only benefit you to be exposed to it as much as possible in high school.

All medical schools will require one year of math (calculus or another advanced math course, such as statistics), and one year of physics. While it's not mandatory for you to take AP Calculus and Physics, and you won't be able to use the AP credit to skip the courses in university (Med schools don't accept AP credit), it will make taking the course in college easier.

Chem.
A friend is planning to becoming a doctor and she's pushing herself into an AP chem class even though....she was almost failing biology last year and have barely learned any chem. Anyway...I think Chem's important to becoming a profession in the area of medics.

Most colleges require at least Cal I and Physics
You could take AP Cal and AP Phys B and that could work

Also, the MCAT has physics on it, so you might as well take Physics.

thanks.. i might take physics this year just to get it over with and will take introduction to calculus in college. Do you guys prefer this method or should i just take both classes this year?

Thanks
