How important is it to take some sort of general physics class in high school? I will be a Senior next year and with my other AP classes, I don't think I'll have enough room in my schedule to take general physics. Is this really bad!? If anyone can give me any advice, I'd really appreciate it.

I should also mention that I want to go into Pre-Med after high school. Presumably, that don't require any physics, right? Also, just to note, I have already taken AP Chemistry and AP Biology.

My school requires one year of physics. I don't want to take it at all, after hearing all the horror stories :P.

For pre-med, I hope you wouldn't need physics. lol Don't take it if you really don't want to.

For pre-med in a lot of cases physics is in the core requirements, as well as calculus. I think [I swear I read this somewhere]. But I would think that taking some type of physics in high school is probably good [it is required at my school]. If you can, I would advise you to take it.

um i no some selective schools want at least 1 year of physics (glad im getting it done now :)) so i think you could take it at a nearby college after school or something.

what schools are you referring to exactly?

I've also heard that 1 year of physics is needed for med school.

Most Medical Schools require:

1 Year Calculus
1 Year Inorganic/Basic Chemistry
1 Year Organic Chemistry
1 Year Biology
1 Year Physics

Some also require:
1 Statistics Class

Keep in mind that there is no such major as pre-med. You will have to pick a major to study on top of your pre-medical courses. If you plan to major in a hard science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) or engineering, you will need 4 years of science classes in high school in order to be accepted into any accredited B.S. program. Those four years should include one year of physics. This course doesn't have to be AP Physics, high school level physics would fill this requirement. However, back when I was in high school, many kids opted out of physics senior year by taking AP Bio for their 4th year science requirement.
