Are Asian kids doing this much good?

[For example, within the group Asian, are Vietnamese-Americans performing just as well as Japanese-Americans?]

Academically, Vietnamese- Americans would get higher stats than Japanese-American, but financially the recent immigrants get lower stats

[over 50% of Hmong and Cambodians don’t even have a high school diploma.]
That’s true. Some Asian groups need helps as much as other URM groups

Particularly in China, education was limited in the early 60s and 70s. A lot of families who want to send their kids to school were unable to even if they had money because of social government. When China adopted a more capitalistic society, education became a priority.

A lot of Chinese parents who come to the US with nothing and start from scratch will continue to make sacrifices so their children can go to prep/Saturday school so we can be more competitive and go to a good college so we can have a better life. As the child, we understand the sacrifices they had to endure so we do our best and put more value on education. This was especially true in the 80s,90s and early 00s.

Chinese parents believe the quickest way to success is a good education. Although this may not be true anymore in today’s economy and society in the US, it has a lot of weigh on how they raise their kids.

Money is just one piece of success. Being educated is the 2nd.

Statistics can be meaningless, despite what we think they indicate.

For example, let’s see the statistics comparing Japanese Americans versus that of 1st or 2nd generation immigrants from agrarian China, Hmong lands, or other regions of SE Asia.
