Are Azn's inherently smarter?

Having some civility would be a good thing.

So....joejjia is racist? Big deal...Let's move on. I don't think it's worth spending time arguing with someone who said Hispanics can't be educated and that a society of 50% Hispanics is somehow "backward."

Anyway, I think we all pretty much agree that racial stereotyping sucks. Just want to establish that.

All races have the same innate capacity for intelligence. That's fact.

Yes, and we are also descendants of chimpanzees. Well, that's a whole other can of worms, but in both cases, if we all came from chimps, then we should all be hairy and cute.

Hairy and cute? x] Hehehe!

What? Humans DID NOT evolve from chimps. My God.

Evolution theory states that humans and chimps have a common ancestor. That's different from saying we came from chimps. GET IT RIGHT.

jimbob, you rock my world. in answer to the op's question: no. i think environmental influences preponderate.

Same ancestor, anyways I was making a pointless joke, geez woman, it doesn't matter where we came from. We all have inherent strengths and weakneses, and no one race is "inherently" smarter. Of course, some people are better than otehrs at one thing or another, but overall, one race is no smarter than any other.

Sorry I'm kinda obsessive over getting academic questions right. That's what my college essay is.

YEah I think we all agree on the basic fact that genetically no race is "smarter" than any other. Environmental conditioning, however...

I'd say that the model minority idea is damaging to Asian American students like me. It just adds pressure and makes Asians who aren't "smart" feel marginalized.

Of course it does. But no system can be fair to everyone, and asian immigrants to the US have worked extremely hard and have instilled those values into their children, thus many asians have a drive to succeed in school.

no.

It has been shown time and time (and time) again, that every relevant quantifiable difference between ethnicities can be attributed to culture and society. End this.

why won't this thread disappear into the dark bowels of CC?

because its quite relevant.

"I'd say that the model minority idea is damaging to Asian American students like me. It just adds pressure and makes Asians who aren't "smart" feel marginalized."

This is what happened once:

Teacher: Wow, Alvin is the only asian I've had that didn't get an A in my class

Asians in the room: .....

For some reason, people expect that asians get the good grades.

No, Asians are not inherently smarter than others.

And it's Asian, not A-Z-N. Get it right, you sound like a fool.

who cares about grades. Grades only means hard work. It doesn't equates to "smartness".

We are talking about IQ here. Something that has nothing to do with hardwork, environment or "culture". It's out of a person's control.

Not only does higher IQ leads to more money, more social benefits, more social status, but it also leads to a more harmonious society. A society with lower crimes.

It seems people in the Orient are well aware of this fact. Read here:

<a href="http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/en/doc/2003-11/17/content_282180.htm%5B/url%5D">http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/en/doc/2003-11/17/content_282180.htm</a></p>

Basically it means even "culture' have to do with IQ. Higher IQ leads to lower crime, it leads to a more sophisticated society with many social expectations, which is why Asians are expected highly in the first place. It also states " Interpol and the UN have been drawing up comparative tables of world-crime rates. The statistics paint a comparatively bright picture in East Asia, dimmer in the West and darkest in Africa and Latin America" Lower IQ = higher crime because crime requires far less intelligence than actually succeeding in school and the workplace. (an extremely enlightening article, read it)

Apparently, the whole people of Japan are aware of this highly obvious fact. That's why their leader Yasuhiro Nakasone tried to warn America way back in the 80s. It was awesome watching America's reaction. Read here:

<a href="http://www.time.com/time/archive/preview/0,10987,963107,00.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.time.com/time/archive/preview/0,10987,963107,00.html</a></p>

...an excerpt from Time: "...Nakasone's infamous remarks last September about intelligence levels in the U.S. being lower than Japan's because of black and Hispanic Americans set off a stormy flap that in Jackson's words "will not go back in the box."

Jessie Jackson was trying to criticize the Japanese Prime Minister because it. He was trying to urge the Japanese companies to hire more minorities. Well that's not happening. Because the Japanese, just like most Orientals not subjected to American liberalism, are a highly practicle people. There is a reason why "Made in Japan" is something that symbolizes the highest quality, highest price, most hi-tech, most "cool" things money can buy. It's not a coincidence. It's due to a high IQ workforce . Apparently Jessie Jackson didn't persuade the Japanese leader because what's funny is virtually all the people in Japan actually agreed with their PM.

Of course, the people who don't agree with me or call me "racist" are either

1) non-Oriental
2) dumb and can't understand statistics
3) Orientals raised in the US, where being "politically correct" is everything.

It's interesting to point out that Orientals who were raised in the US tend to be MUCH more "politically correct" than the "true" Orientals. I can definately sense this given my background. This article proves it:

<a href="http://heather.cs.ucdavis.edu/pub/RaceRelations/ChronNM.html%5B/url%5D">http://heather.cs.ucdavis.edu/pub/RaceRelations/ChronNM.html</a></p>

Well, that's it for now. Call me racist if you want. But I think there is a difference between being "racist" and being "practical". "Racist" means bigotry with no reason. "Practical" means acknowledging the fact (even when it's painful) with no regard to "political correctness".

Those of you that are calling me "racist" but couldn't offer any counter arguments with proof or links are just plain feeble and pathetic.

Let's see here, the "communists" in the US are demanding everything to be equal and anyone that state otherwise is immediately labeled as a racist. It's sad to see the liberals ruin the USA by:

Bussing, integration, using the best teachers, the best
neighborhoods, the funding, etc etc... all failed. Affirmative action failed. Billions of dollar wasted.

crime remains high
prisons are still full
pregnancy remains the same
welfare hasnt changed
poverty hasnt improved
HS test scores remain low
college admitance is low
violence is still high
Hispanic birthrate 3X as white
birthrate out of wedlock skyhigh

Stop saying one sentence statements like "No, I don't think there are racial differences in IQ" Back it up. Otherwise, it's just your "opinion". But I prefer the FACTs, something that is proven countless times with statistics and also real world examples. It's also a general consensus among IQ experts and other socialogists. Like it or not.

"Not only does higher IQ leads to more money, more social benefits, more social status, but it also leads to a more harmonious society. A society with lower crimes."

This says alot about the ghetto and urbany areas which are teeming with URMs...

You aren't even qualified enough to be a "racist". What traumatic event ever happened to you strong enough to provoke any semblance of true racial tension?

You are obviously proud to be labeled as a racist. You must also be proud to generate a CC sn while in college so that you can post in a high school forum bragging to youngsters...do the big boys not listen to you ramblings?

Does it matter if what you say is correct? It doesn't. No one wants to listen to you. If people want to find out about their own genetic superiority or inferiority let them do so themselves.

Who are you talking to TropicalTriceps?

JinFX: yes, he's not quite right on the head, especially concerning history and race. i don't believe him, though. (hmm... maybe that's why his still single up until now..)

"Not only does higher IQ leads to more money, more social benefits, more social status, but it also leads to a more harmonious society. A society with lower crimes".

i don't think so. having a high IQ doesn't matter unless you have the personality and you actually USE it.

"Not only does higher IQ leads to more money, more social benefits, more social status, but it also leads to a more harmonious society. A society with lower crimes".

right..
And no I dont have any hard facts to defend my opinion. sorry.
