I don't know what happened since Columbia did not release their early acceptance rates, but it seems as though most people from CC were deferred last Thursday.
Some said that the acceptance rate decreased by half, to something like 12%, but it seems like more people were deferred than rejected.
ARe the deferred people's chances still just about the same as people coming in for RD's or do we have less chance???
I mean it was our first choice after all...

It has nothing to do with CC people being competitive.

Rather, it is basic human nature for accepted and deferred people to be disproportionately represented in self-reported admissions results simply because those who are rejected typically don't bother to post (or are ashamed to post). Accepted people will post because they are happy about their acceptances whereas those who are deferred seek to commiserate with other deferred applicants (and nurse their hope for an acceptance in March).

this was a bunch of non-sense, I posted it because I misunderstood the numbers in columbia's newspaper.
