Are Interviews Mandatory?

If we live in Europe, can we compensate the interview portion of the application by Skype?!

Also, if my brother is a highly ranked athlete, (2nd in state twice), then will they do some sort of a "sports test"? If he wants to play for the team, I mean.

Thank you.

Plenty of people use skype. Check with the admissions office. Your brother can send sports stats and DVD to coaches. Teams will have tryouts prior to the start of the season, if thats what you mean by a sports test.

It depends on the school. I’ve heard about that being done at Exeter and Andover. However, at some schools (one example that comes to mind is Middlesex) a tour and an interview are not required, though I strongly recommend you interview anyways.

Schools don’t have you take any “sports test” while they are making admission decisions. They will assess your brother’s skills during a tryout, which will happen right before school starts, after he’s admitted. If your brother’s good enough to be recruited (which it sounds like he is), than he should contact the coach, and possibly send in a video of him playing to the schools.

Great advice. Thank you everyone!
