Are most people in medical school married?

I'm worried about marrying a doctor though, because (I realize this will come off as sexist or w/e) if both of us are busy, I don't want any kids we have to suffer or stuff like that cuz of 2 really busy parents. Won't being in med school kinda shut off opportunities to meet other types of people (excepting people I meet in bars ~_~) ?

That's why law schools have libraries... heh.

wow, thanks Pearl! i think i do most of that... maybe 3 things i should work on.

Dr. Psedrish, if it's not too much to ask, how do you overcome the pitfalls we hear/read about among double-doctor couples? Do you have anything to add to Pearl's list? :D

I'm also worried about marrying a doctor because if I have a child(ren), I don't want him/her/them to have an absentee dad. Bad enough that they might be having an absentee mom... and even without children, I can imagine it's easy to float apart...

My dad says females should marry older males, because he says males mature more slowly... o_0

That's true, but obviously (since maturity is relative to what they'll eventually be), boys catch up after a certain point -- I believe around age 17. It seems odd because many men in our society behave in what would be called an "immature" manner if they were women.

yeah but age should really not be a factor if other things are practical and compatible. a few months, even a yr or two, is no big deal if ur on the same wavelength otherwise. at least, it shouldnt be.

and if u miss out on someone great b/c of age, then ull regret it forever.
i learned that the hard way

You have to choose your specialty carefully. We are rheumatologists in private practice (partners). Rheum allows us a pretty easy schedule. We did train together and had babies during our training (as she took breaks for the kids I caught up to her) and that was hectic, but all in all it was pretty easy.

in medicine, do males ever take breaks for the kids while the wife advances her career?
(i admit it--as a female, i'm jealous and scared. lol)
