I've heard many things from different students on the average stats of admission that CSUF requires and frankly at this point I am confused.

According to Csumentor.com the average secondary school GPA is around a 3.4, but I've heard that it's easy to get in with a 2.5 - 3.0.

Myself, I have the current GPA of 3.0, hoping to bring it to a 3.5 at the end of my senior year by obtaining straight A's! (which is going well!) and my SAT score is 1670. Do I have a decent chance or is it slim?

I would love to have an idea.

Thanks in advance!!!

There are a lot of other factors such as if you live in the “service area” for admission and also what your SAT critical reading+math score is. CSUs don’t count the writing section of the SAT. CSUF also only looks at sophomore and junior year grades so how well you do your senior year won’t really matter. My brother got into CSUF with a 3.3 and a 1000 combined SAT score for reading and math. Our family lives in the service area for CSUF and he also didn’t pick a competitive major when applying. :)

Fullerton has gotten surprisingly competitive. Unless you are local, I don’t think your grades/SAT are enough to get you in.

With a 3.0 GPA and M+R 1100 SAT, you have an index of 3500. Though the cutoff varies by major, I think 3700 is a good proxy for where they draw the line.

Now, they use a modified GPA and I guessed at your M+R SAT so, your index could be higher or lower. Use this tool to calculate an accurate index so you’ll know where you stand.

You senior grades won’t help. I trust you’ve got a plan B.

Good Luck.
