So, I officially chose my classes for my junior year. I am taking AP Literature, Honors World History, Honors Pre Calculus, AP Biology, Advanced and Organic Chem II, Honors Spanish 4, Honors 2D Art, and early morning gym so that I can free up my gym period to fit 7 full credit courses and double up on sciences. Keep in mind, my only AP options this year were AP History, Lit, or Bio. I don’t know if I should pick up AP History. I did have it on my schedule as well but dropped it because I believed it was unnecessary for what I want to pursue (medical). Should I pick it back up? Any class recommendations? Are my classes rigorous? I feel like I should be taking more APs, I don’t know. I am very confused haha.
Is it typical for students to take AP bio junior year?
For medicine you want to make sure you take Bio, Chem, Physics and then an AP version of one of those.
Organic Chem is not really necessary. Colleges dont’ expect you to double up on sciences.
What do you want to major in? I assume you are pre-med, but you can major in anything you like (as long as you also take the med school prereqs like Bio, chem, org chem, physics, calculus)
That’s fine, but I agree, you could just take gym whenever and save some sleep, keeping “Honors Organic Chem” for senior year if need be.
@bopper I’m not 100% sure yet but I am stuck between pre med or pre physician’s assistant. I took bio freshman year and I am taking honors chem this year. I cannot take physics yet because I have not taken pre calc so I will be taking physics senior year. So, I chose ap bio haha.
FYI check the required courses for both pre med or pre physician’s assistant. For example, PA requires Anatomy and Physiology whereas Premed doesn;t.
