Are my essays too weird?

I just submitted an early Ivy app (not saying which sorry) and was overwhelmed with anxiety about my essays.

In my common app essay I tried to be as genuine and intimate as possible, but it could come off as a bit cerebral. Tracks my thought process as I get onstage to perform a scene from a show and become more aware of inhabiting a female body… also talks about the meaning of language and history to me.

Supps were okay. Touched on some stuff about my sister learning to bike, Greta Gerwig, ancestry.com.

In reality, I felt connected to all of my essays, and was proud of them. I am just worried that my readers won’t “get” what I’m trying to say, or will dislike the creative license I took. So much of college essay writing seems formulaic and I am scared that I ruined my chances by taking a different route!

I am wondering if any former admissions officers could confirm or deny this… I realize it is incredibly subjective and case-by-case but I am just hoping for an idea.

(App Context: Above average scores for the school though not too many AP/IB scores because my school doesn’t do a lot of em, international and national awards, volunteering on state level, etc. Strong ‘spike’ of artsy activism.)
