are my SAT scores too low for Wellesley?

i took the SAT for the first time and here are my scores

M: 680
CR:640
W:660

Should I take the SAT again?

[Statistics 2012](http://www.wellesley.edu/admission/admission/statistics.html) Make your own decision.

I am aware of several young women in this area who were admitted to Wellesley the past three years with similar test scores, but they all had outstanding ECs, top 5% class rank and A avaerages. And their SAT scores were the result of multiple testing.

You certainly have the time to take the SAT again, and I would suggest you do so in the fall. You might set aside some time on a regular basis this summer to self-study. You should be able to get the math score up to 700 and I’d shoot for the same for CR & W. You can see from WendyMouse’s link how that increases your odds.

Your scores are not that low but I would certainly suggest giving it another try. Coming from a person who hates the SAT with a passion (only ended up with a 2060 in the end), if your strengths are in school (4.0 GPA, academic awards, etc.), I wouldn’t worry too much about SAT scores. Liberal arts colleges tend to understand a bit better that these scores are as far away as one can get from determining the true abilities of students academically.

would my SAT subject test scores help to offset my low SAT scores?

I got 770 in Spanish and 720 in biology-e

your SAT II scores sound great. i think they would.

one of my friends got a lower SAT score than you and got waitlisted. you have a pretty good chance.

and mk150890, a score of 2060 is NOT bad, considering people study their butts off just to break 2000. it’s up there!

i like wendymouse’s advice to you, which is to look at the class of 2012’s statistics and evaluate your chances there. and remember that wellesley will not only look at these scores but will also take into account your personality, ECs, grades, etc.

When in doubt, try out the ACT. I didn’t do well on the SAT, but did well on the ACT. It worked for me?
