EVEN IF, McCombs filled up seats based off of rank, wouldn't they have to hang in there and wait for more people to apply or there would be no brightline or way to know if all seats have been filled accurately based off of rank... Super confused and kind of upset because I'm heavily reliant upon taking my SAT in OCT, which would put at a disadvantage since they would not receive my full Application until November... That's really late.

The thread you linked to references the “old” way McCombs admitted students which was based on class rank for 75% of the spots. This changed in the Fall of 2011. McCombs now uses a holistic method that encompasses a combination of class rank, SAT/ACT scores, extracurricular activities, and essays.

I believe that McCombs still does rolling admission so people who apply early are still at an advantage when compared to those who apply last minute. It cant hurt to submit everything early as long as it is complete and wont change!

@LonghornBHP BUT applying early with a poor SAT score would result in an EARLY rejection right? I wouldn’t want admissions making a hasty decision before I can get my final SAT score in… Which I’d take in Oct…

No, I dont believe so. While they do have rolling admission, they dont have rolling rejections so you can get admitted early but if they dont admit you early and your stats get better you can be admitted later as well. I had a friend in a similar situation who applied early and was accepted right when his new scores came in. Just put that you are taking the SAT again somewhere in your application and you will be fine.

Well, I dont think you should worry too much. I applied on the date of the deadline for business honors. And, I got in. So, I dont think the rolling admission policy is a barrier

Even if you apply to McCombs early, think it still depends on what major you are going for. This example may not be valid, but for BME, I found in February even though I got into UT in August. UT also says that for harder majors you will find out later if you got in. Also, if I am not mistaken, I think you have to turn in everything by December 1st or something,so in the end it just comes down to what major you are going for.

All applicants to McCombs are “undeclared.” If admitted to McCombs, one declares a major after completing Calculus I and II, Microeconomics and Macroeconomics, BA 101 and amassing 30 hours of college credit.

Wait, so when you apply you have to list your major as undeclared?

No, you list business as your desired major.

After your accepted to McCombs, your labeled as an “undeclared business” major. Once you complete “Calculus I and II, Microeconomics and Macroeconomics, BA 101 and amass 30 hours of college credit” at UT, then you are free to choose a business major within McCombs. Basically, the business school wants you to take a few core classes so that you have some exposure to business before deciding your major.
