Are SAT and ACT scores really that important if you're in the top 9% of your class? I know that top 9% guarantees you admission to UT, but not to your desired major. Will mediocre SAT and ACT scores affect my chances if I want to major in biology?

I got a 27 on my ACT. I took my SAT today... It wasn't too good. I'm expecting a 1800-1900. I have the worst test anxiety... I do a lot better in school, but when it comes to standardized tests, I am horrible at it.

A 27 ACT is more than fine to get in to Biology. Pump out some decent essays and you should be good to go. While McCombs and Cockrell have their eyes set on being nationally competitive, the Biology program’s agenda, as the largest major on campus, seems to be more focused on satisfying its role as part of a state university- that is, providing Texas’s students with a competent education on a large scale.

It depends on the major you applied to. Like frever said, a 27 will get you into Biology, but probably won’t get you into McCombs (but don’t quote me, I’m in CNS).
