Are SAT II Necessary???

I'm not completely clear on this. Are the SAT II's required at NYU? If so, for what schools (if not all)? Everything that I read gives mixed information. Thanks.

No, SATII's NOT required. HOWEVER, because you are competing against the applicants who have taken SATIIs, you OUGHT to take them. I, and of course NYU, recommend you to take the following tests

Writing - it's essential

Math - it's essential

a third test is your choice, I would rather take easy subjects such as World History or Japanese or Korean...well for me. ha-ha

I was told that SAT2s did not factor into admissions...only good to have for class placement (as well as AP grades)

They lie. Seriously, who would you choose if you were the NYU admission officer.

Jason L.
SAT1 - 1350
SAT 2 - 660 writing
720 math 1 C
740 World History
G.P.A. 3.4

John D.
SAT1 - 1350
G.P.A. 3.4

which one?

I would choose Jason L.

lolol yea see?

I would choose John D.

i would choose me

It was between Jason L. and John D. I can't find your name there. Where are you?

OK. So basically it is not REQUIRED at any of the schools, only suggested?
Thanks for the responses.

Jason is correct.

While SAT II's are technically not required, its highly recommended that you take them due to the extremely competitive nature of the applicant pool and the fact that most successful applicants at NYU have taken 3 SAT II's.

Good luck.
