<p>I think was you are referring to is the percentile score versus the actual number SAT score. So a score of 600 in math if achieved when testing with students who are stronger in math (ie Seniors) than you might put you in a lower percentile than if you took with more students who test about the same as you (ie Juniors). I believe that schools pay attention to both scores but in actuality, I don’t know if it really makes enough of a difference to worry. </p>
<p>What I understand is that students should take the SAT tests when it works for them. SAT 2’s are best taken right after you take that subject so it is most fresh. Most Juniors take SAT 1s in the spring for the reason I said, however, if you have AP exams to take too, there is an awful lot testing to get through Jan-June between midterms, finals, regular school testing, SAT 1, SAT 2 and if you want to try an ACT. Some students can’t fit in SAT 2 testing in Jr year so end up taking them in the fall of Senior year.</p>
