Are SAT Subject Tests ABSOLUTELY necessary for international students?

The title is pretty self explanatory, I was surfing around Princeton's website when I stumbled upon a page about international students and saw that it says students MUST register at least 2 SAT Subject Test scores even though I have never seen this before.

The Common App. website states that only SAT I, ACT and TOEFL scores are necessary for admission to Princeton Uni. for international students.

So which one is true?

Rules vary. Princeton’s rule is clear. Subject tests are required of all unless you are an international applying from a country where SAT testing is not available. See [Princeton University | Tips for International Students](http://www.princeton.edu/admission/applyingforadmission/international_students/) and http://www-dept-edit.princeton.edu/admission/pdfs/ReadySetGo12.pdf</a>. Others follow the same, some may not require tests, and some may not even make the exception if you are from a country where tests are not available. You must check each college’s specific rules to determine the issue and don’t rely on what a common app site says.

well, i am an interntional student and I can tell you that I’ve looked everywhere to avoi these tests but there is no way. Even if you find a way for princeton, almost every other colleges will ask you to take them. So you should quickly register for december subject tests dates (the deadline is in 2 days if I remmeber well) and seriously try to practise . Because even if you’re good, if you’re not used to the questions, it could be a real issue.
