I'm wondering if the MAJORITY (of course there are exceptions) of the people on here are better qualified than the average applicant. The average GPAs/ SATs sure as heck suggest so. Are people on here generally more interested in getting into college? Somebody mentioned how there were 14 spring acceptances to Cornell, and at least 5 of them came from here.

It sure seems that way. If you're willing to spend a lot of time on a forum dedicated to colleges, and posting about your chances, etc, you probably have a strong interest/desire to attend a particular university, more so than the average applicant.

Actually, I've been quite disappointed with the "Chance me" Transfer threads so far. Nothing has been really standing out - I've met truly interesting individuals in real life, but CC just really seems to take the cake with all its gunners (not actually interesting ones though).

Also...

If you're willing to spend a lot of time on a forum dedicated to colleges, and posting about your chances, etc, then you're probably a guy who wastes time trying to be a gunner instead of going out into the real world and doing stuff that's actually meaningful. You only care about the acceptance.

Honestly, why do people do these Chance threads anyway?

You don't get a broad range for the most part on here. Don't let the (what seems to be) prevalent high stats discourage you.

For the first question I agree with sudstar. As far as interesting characters, i think it depends how deep you look into it. For example, read a few pages of "success transfer stories with bad high school records" thread (I'm not sure of the name but its something like that), I'm sure you'll find some remarkable stories.

Yes, that is a fantastic thread. But also don't overestimate yourself. There are plenty of qualified applicants out there who don't use CC.

it seems as if its the case...in the nyu thread, with its reported 10% transfer acceptance rate, the majority of posters got accepted...either cc just attracts more motivated applicants or, in this case, nyu was messing with their acceptance rates (i think its both)

We're just the overly paranoid students who cannot afford personal college counselors :)

Last year there were 4 people on this forum who said that they were accepted to Y as transfers. While they cannot be verified, I've no reason to think that they lied. Since 20+ total were accepted, that's a relatively large proportion to come from here.

Uhhh yeah. All I have seen are nervous applicants who think that a 2350 on the SAT is too low or applicants who clearly know they are qualified but post their stats anyway just to see what people will say. The majority of stats on here are really high and even the ones that are considered "average" by critical posters are really high. I don't know what some people expect. I guess you can go through life constantly stressed about something bc if you are worried like this in high school you better believe you will be even more worried at the ivies where it's cut throat and there's an even greater weight on your grades and future.
