The link has little articles with vocab words in them.

Is that how the book really is?

Yes (character limit)

Yes very similar.

No, not at all. Each book (there are 2 volumes) have about 200 words listed in them. They are numbered and ordered based on certain sections created by the author. Each word has 1 or 2 examples that are like the articles in the blog (the examples are shorter than the blog articles and employ fewer SAT-level words).

OP was asking about the examples that were used to teach the words. And yes, pop culture, such as celebrity life and recent movies, is widely used in teaching the words. I find this gross, though. I don’t even listen to Justin Bieber or Snoop Dog. I would prefer more academic examples, which I pointed out in their review form for the 2011 books.

(OP?) Thanks guys. I was hoping they’d base it on more historical examples, with historical figures and etc., as I’ve seen somewhere in one of their descriptions, but it turned out to be a bit TOO contemporary.
Anyway, is it worth it?

No not really like that…It’s like 314159265 said it is divided into sections and every word has examples from history to pop culture. Plus if you’re planning for the SAT I really suggest you to buy them.

Are they really that good? I know their words have been used frequently, but do they have practice for the vocab other than just reading examples?

oblivion-really? why would you prefer more academic examples?
I think the great thing about DH is that it places vocab words in the context of how theyll be tested on the SAT–meaning they have several sections-such as history, roots, characteristics of people, and then their definitions are not just short one or two words, rather, they place the meaning in the context of how they will be tested.

True, I have seen an inclusive variety of examples on the official practice tests.
Thanks for the suggestions.
