wat about the other guy....and poor old me?

The other guy and you are probably both toss-ups - remember, 'match' is rather important. Obviously, we'll see - let us know what happens with you three.

you mean i actually have a chance?

karthik is that you from northview?

no i am not from northview sorry(karthik is a very very very famous name....)

i don't understand, why do people think that if you have cured cancer, you are a shoe-in for college. Those two could literally be people who have never stepped out doors and just done unreal things their whole lives. I think everyone on this board who applied has a shot because of the people they are, admissions is not 100% based on what NASA rover you have controlled.

oh ok. so it's one of the most common indian names.

karthik- this is a bad bad time to know your chances... so just get off this thread and chill out.

You'll find out in 12.5 hours. That's 100/8.

If your that smart as a student in India why would you apply to MIT for undergraduate studies? Wouldn't the obvious choice be IIT and sitting the Joint Entrance Examination for them? and furthermore being a Math Olympiad and Informatics Olympiad participant and yet still not having an 800 on SAT II's is quite bad, because of scaled scores you only need like 43 out of 50 right on basic pre-calc stuff to get a 800.

Yeah you are right. that fellow would defnitely get into IIT also. I think he wants to write the exam. but then all of you are forgeting somehting. X is not intersted in engg. He wants to become a prof and do research.
But IIT also tests Chem .an he is real bad at chem. in fact heloaths the subject. CMI is more selctive than IIT, and admits only 10-15 undergraduates every year, and they have a tougher entrance paper than IIT. This guy was offered admission without the entrance exam.
and by the way anomaly
"and furthermore being a Math Olympiad and Informatics Olympiad participant and yet still not having an 800 on SAT II's is quite bad, because of scaled scores you only need like 43 out of 50 right on basic pre-calc stuff to get a 800."
look up, scroll and read. he has a 800 on the SAT 2's

and by the way to prove to you guys how famous these two are, spacepirate identified them both. he seems to know them he pm'ed me .

i know them personally and I'm afraid that my knowing them doesnt prove that they are famous.

ack! the long sentences..

@banerjee

hey banerjee i probably wouldnt blame you for feeling that they are unreal people who haent done anything in the real life, but being their closest friend for over 6years i probably think i should tell u this.
both hav doen a A LOt of social service. X is an excellnt quizzer plays soccer for the school team, and sings carnatic music.

Y is not really good at academics and stuff, but he plays an active role in his grandmothers social service oranistations. both are real fun loving people.
and very very popular.

ALL three got rejected. they rejected a NASA 1 out of 8 in the world, a three time national olympiader, and a one out of thee in WSF . gosh. who did they admit?
