Since a lot of people keep asking these questions, I thought I'll create a thread and we'll keep bumping it until the mods take notice and make it sticky. So here goes:

Q) When will the decisions be released? MIT is getting ready to release RD round decisions on Friday March 11th, 2005.

Q) Can you confirm the source? This information, first spotted on CC by "mit_hopefulgirl" is from the MIT Admissions Website, but may change.

Q) How will the decisions be mailed?
[ul]
[li]Domestic admits and rejects - Both will receive it by regular mail.[/li][li]International admits - Via courier (DHL). Takes max 5 days for most parts of the world.[/li][li]International rejects - Via airmail. Takes anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks.[/li][/ul]

Q) Will decisions be available by phone/email/web? If your decision does not reach you by the 18th of March, you can call the admission office. Decisions will not be sent via email or web.

Q) Any way I can find out about my decision before that date? Matt McGann has said - "no."

I hope the above is useful to fellow applicants! Feel free to add your own Q&A's.

That's awesome. What a good example to other CCers of summarizing useful information in a FAQ post--and with links to a confirming Web site too.

thanks, merc. anyone know how/when fin aid decisions are mailed? says mid march on myMIT... or if this has been answered, can someone supply a link? thanks

weeps so I won't even have to open the letter to know. I don't even think I'd want to open the tiny envelope. :-(

I think the only reason I would/will is to just check in case they were fooling me... you know, sort of like "It's not rejection until I actually see it printed on the paper, there is still a chance...! opens letter, sees rejection written all over OKAY, now there is no chance!"
