<p>I think they must be done with selection for Domestic students; what about Internationals? Last year they completed selection for both 1 week before release date. They haven't posted anything like that this time.</p>
<p>yeah.. I am disappointed by the lack of "What's going on in the admissions office now" kinda posts that were in plenty last year.</p>
<p>given that we have just 3.5 days before decision release, I think it's pretty much a given that the selections are done. After all they need some time to prepare the admit/reject packages/letters too.</p>
<p>They aren't posting much, neither on the blogs nor on CC.
I think, I scared Ben away from CC:p</p>
<p>They're very busy.</p>
<p>When I visited last week, they were still reading international applications. I imagine they are either done or very close to being done with international selection at the moment.</p>
<p>Decisions have been made for domestic applicants</p>
<p>So i have been domestically rejected already.</p>
<p>does anyone know when approximately they were made? I sent MIT an email on the 6th about all these awards i won at a science fair and i'm hoping they might have actually been looked at...</p>
<p>i am so sure i was rejected.
here are some very good reasons
1) X- a freind of myne (a close on i might add)-applied
HE HAS 4 OLYMPIADS....damn it 4 olymmpiads...to his name..all national
2)y-another fried of myne who applied who was the child ambassador and also a NASA finalist
3)if they admit me, they will DEFINTELY admit tho other two.
4)the converse is not true.
5)as an international it is highly unlikely they will admit me and two other guys ....total three..of the three who applied(we were obvoiusly the only ones who applied)
6)though my school is well known in the country..they have never admitted anybody from my school ..but we have had one guy going to caltech</p>
<p>

child ambassador and also a NASA finalist

</p>
<p>What is being a NASA finalist?</p>
<p>he was one among 8 in the world to get selected to man a red rover on mars, he and the other guy(X)i spoke about were the only indians selected. if they dont get in, I dont know who will. Maybe there will be a trickle down effect and they will accept me also</p>
<p>"to man a red rover on mars"</p>
<p>What??</p>
<p>see, this is why i know i have no chance at a school like that.</p>
<p>no sorry about that - control a red rover on mars. as a student navigator</p>
<p>do you want to know their stats? because if they dont get in..i dont know who will</p>
<p>yeah.. would like to know... Student Navigators or Student Astronauts?</p>
<p>ok every body</p>
<p>PROBABLY THE ONLY SURE SHOE IN STUDENTS AT MIT> THE MOST COMPETITITVE APPLCATIONS FROM THE COUNTRY OF INDIA(OR AnYWHERE ELSE FOR THAT MATTER)</p>
<p>STUDENT X:</p>
<p>1) Student navigator back up team in NASA one from a few people in the world. one among two indians selected.
2)informatics olympiad national-last year and this year camp.
maths olympiad-class 12 year camp
informatics olympiad- this year international for sure
3) SATS and gpa and all that nonsense(does it matter for him?)
-1950(this guy got a SAT math 720!!...this shows that you can be really good at math and make a few stupid mistakes and get screwed for it)
subject 800*2</p>
<p>Student Y
1) the other indian selected for the NASA program. (yeah both from my school, and both from my class)
2)child ambassador to Paris represnting UN, from India at the age of 8 or 9 i think..or was it 10?..only one from the country
3) the presidentof india knows him on a first name basis. he meets him regularly.
has a reccomendation from the ISRO president Kasturi Rangan
3)some GYLC special invitee with scholarship
SATS and gpa
doesnt matter for him too
1920
subject 790/780
and he has a whole lot of national and international awards(his CV runs into 13pages)</p>
<p>COMPARED TO ME -</p>
<p>ME:
1)one among three from country at World school international 2006
2)slew of quizzing awards
3)slew of debating awards and on national TV also
4)top 5 in school(i got higher ranks than the other two!!)
5)awards at IIT madras
SAT-1970
subject-770/760</p>
<p>now considering we were the only three to apply
I am sure atleast one will get admitted, or two even. i am hoping there will be a trickle down effect to help me.feel free to ask me anything else about those applications from my class.</p>
<p>Sorry dude, but those two aren't sure admits.</p>
<p>there is porbably a limit to estimating how competitve admssions can get.
do you know what it is to come in the top 10 in the country continously for two years on two different subjects in the olympiads. and he is going for the international olympiad this year.
Have you heard of CMI?
they already offered X admission. and X was even told that his admission to Caltech was highly likely in class 8 itself.</p>
<p>caltech? thats really strange, caltech emphasizes scores and stuff a LOT. He has a MUCH better chance at mit. In fact i'd say his chances at mit are excellent. But i really doubt caltech would accept him.</p>
