Are there any programs for someone interested in law, debate, or politics?

Hey! I'm looking at summer programs or internships for next summer. i'm interested in debate, law, and debate. Any suggestions?

http://www.fbijobs.gov/2394.asp

You can apply for a summer unpaid internship at the FBI.

Could someone tell about an experience with the FBI internships?

Jsa .

For politics I second JSA and also recommend the House or Senate Page Programs

for debate, there are a bunch of good summer programs...VBI, Stanford, Emory, Northwestern, Miami, and Florida Forensics Institute host notable programs...but there are also tons of others.

thanks for your help!

The student must be at least 16 years old when hired and must be enrolled at least halftime in a local qualified academic institution with a minimum GPA of 3.0. The applicant must be a U.S. citizen color=red[/color]. The student must be able to qualify under FBI standards pertaining to the use of illegal drugs and must successfully pass a polygraph examination and drug test as part of the background investigation. This also requires the applicant to be fingerprinted and to undergo a comprehensive FBI Background Information.

Isn't that a bit much for an internship?...

Armando, I like the part about the polygraph examination. Yeesh.

Third JSA. I did it two years ago and had a great time. You can sign up for college-level classes in US government, foreign policy, the presidency, constitutional law, etc. There's also a debate component, and if you go to the D.C. site you do a series of Speakers Bureau programs on Capitol Hill. (We met some really impressive people, which I didn't quite realize until I went home and started seeing them on TV. We also met Mark Foley before he was infamous, though I doubt they'll be inviting him back ... )

There's also a program called the World Debate Institute, hosted at the University of Vermont. My brother went last year, and a few people from my high school, and I know they had a wonderful experience.

Do the interns live in dorms or something?

Wait, since I'm a dual citizen of Canada that means I would I have to give it up?

I served as a House Page (I'm assuming that the security clearance levels are about equal for the two positions, since the FBI is the FBI lol and pages work in the cloakroom, house floor + house intelligence commitee), and am a dual citizen (US/Canada) and had no problem with that. They actually didn't even mention it, let alone ask me to renounce my Canadian citizenship. So I'm assuming the FBI program is very similar. Canada our close ally, which is one of the only reasons we're allowed to have dual citizenship in the first place!

Also that's not THAT much for an internship, honestly...for the page program they apparently also do background checks, and send you a 30-page packet on drug testing haha. It's just general federal government rules...if you want to work for them, you have to undergo a background check.

What's the age requirement for pages?

Also, mochamaven, how'd you get dual citizenship? (just curious)
