Are there any scholarships for sophomore-level CCC students worth applying to?

I'm on the 3-year CC plan, applying for financial aid for my 3rd and last year at CC. Completed ~30 units of UC transferable coursework with a 4.0 GPA. No ECs besides a seasonal job, and terrible stats from high school.

I'm sure there are a bajillion other CCC students just like me. Are there any kinds of scholarships that people like us should look into? Maybe grants for people who did awful in high school but are doing decent at CC, something like that?

There are literally thousands of scholarships for CCC students available and if you are willing to write the essays, get the letters of recomendation and fill out some forms then you have a great shot at getting one with your GPA. If your family makes less than say 75k or so this will improve your chances even more.

As far as finding them goes, most CCC’s financial aid or student services departments will be able to help kick start your application process. Poke around your CCC and good luck

In addition to Tony’s advice, check with your major department. Sometimes there will be department-specific scholarships set up by retired faculty or something with very few applicants, allowing you to easily net a couple hundred dollars.
