Are there placement exams at UNC?

A lot of most selective schools have placement exams for freshmen before the fall term?
Are there placement exams at UNC?

There is a spanish placement test (or substitute your foreign language) that we take at CTOPS. They also offer exams that can give you credit for a chemistry lab and such. You take those closer to the start of classes.

They also ask you to take the SAT II Math II for placement purposes. It only will place you into 231 math (calc. 1) Your Freshman handbook will give you all of the other placement tests/exemption tests you can take.

If I've taken the SATII spanish and math2 will I have to take anything?

No. That's all you need to take. While others will have to take UNC's placement test for foreign language, it isn't necessary for you to do so since you already have the subject test for it.

Here are the placements for the Spanish subject test:

350-440 placement into 101 credit: none
450-470 placement into 105 credit: none
480-540 placement into 203 credit: none
550-590 placement into 204 credit: 203 upon successful completion of 204
600-690 placement into 255 or 260 credit: 203 and 204
700 & above Placement by department interview credit: 203 and 204

The placements for the Math level 2 subject test:

Scores Courses
200–510 Math 110
520–590 Math 130 or Math 152
600-800 Math 231

These mathematics placements are if you will not have taken AP Calculus. If you pass the AP exam, you will be awarded credit for that class.

If we place into "placement by departmental interview," does that interview take place during CTOPS?

Yes it does.
