Are there any non-need based outside scholarships that renew from year to year, or are they all one time scholarships? If so, can anyone suggest a good resource for finding them?

The very best merit awards are given by the colleges themselves. Most outside scholarships either have a need component or are for one year only with smaller amounts.

There are but not many.

the outside scholarships that dont consider need are usually one time frosh year scholarships. there really arent much/any incentives for outside entities to fund multi-year non-need scholarships.

If you need non-need based scholarships than you need to apply to the schools that give them.

Thank you. That is what I suspected to be true, but thought I’d check with the ‘experts’.

@billcsho, Thank you for the info on the coca-cola scholarship. I’d heard of it before, but didn’t realize it was a 4 year scholarship. I will look into it.

Sho…that coke scholarship is awarded to 250 people. It is not a slam dunk by any measure or means. If you have the qualifications to be selected for that award, you would likely get some decent merit aid from the colleges in the automatic full tuition/full ride thread.

Yes, but top private schools do not offer merit scholarships but need based aid. This is particularly useful for those.

Shell also offers scholarship to high school senior that one can apply for renewal. It requires interview and is not automatic though.

Check with your local high school. Sometimes there are community based scholarships that are renewable. My daughters each had one that was available for local students from our church denomination, and the younger one had one through the local community foundation. They had to reapply every year - older daughter did not have one every year, but 2 of the 4, if I recall correctly.

As I said above, there are renewable external scholarships. Just not many.

There are some corporate sponsored ones for NM!

^ Yes, but unfortunately they are not open to public. Not only it is only for NMF, you need to be affiliated with that company. Those who are eligible would definitely apply anyway.
