Rice cooker

and…

Multiple lamps(every video on YouTube of UCD dorms is of a darklit room with a single living room reading lamp that’s meant to supplement floor lamps, but there’s no floor lamps… are floor lamps not allowed?)

How do you guys/gals get hot water for Instant Noodles, etc.? I’m worried about how I’ll make break food for in-between study sessions. Also… is there an area for students to cook? Making myself steak or salmon once a month would be nice…

Thanks!

Rice cookers are probably allowed. I would guess that some lamps are allowed and others are not. It probably depends on what type of lamp and if it’s a fire hazard or not.

I actually have a water boiler that I bought off of amazon to get hot water. So something like this: [Amazon.com: Proctor Silex K2070 1-Quart Automatic Electric Kettle, White: Kitchen & Dining](http://www.amazon.com/Proctor-Silex-K2070-Automatic-Electric/dp/B00023XCWS/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1303884874&sr=8-3)

The buildings have kitchens in them, but some buildings have large kitchens and others have really small ones. But to answer your question, there are kitchens available.

Hope that helps!

Can we bring coffee makers?!

someone asked on decision day if u could have a rice cooker… and they said No because it posed as a fire hazard

Students on my dorm floor had rice cookers. I’m pretty sure coffeemakers are ok too.

Bring what you want, RAs don’t care. Just don’t bring weapons.

to add to the general question…

you can still use the rice cooker in the kitchen then? or should you keep it out of sight in your room?

… are heat products like curling irons ok as well?

I’m actually surprised that students are allowed to bring microwaves even though it’s a certain brand only probably low energy consumption. Most UCs’ are strict on almost everything that consumes too much energy. I know in Berkeley there’s a fixed megabite usage for computers in dorms so students had to go to the common room for wifi.

If we can bring microwaves… we can bring almost everything else. Rice cookers are not harmful unless you can’t cook rice.
