I’m currently a sophomore and taking:
-Chemistry REGULAR
-Algebra 2 HONORS
-Spanish 3 HONORS
-US History 2 HONORS
-AP Psychology
-English 2 HONORS
-Financial Literacy/SAT Prep (semesterized)
Since I moved to a new school this year, I had trouble keeping my grades up since there was so much adjusting to do…(I even got a D in Algebra 2 Honors, it was frustrating)…
As a Junior I’m planning to take:
-AP Biology
-AP Statistics
-AP Language and Composition (they don’t offer English 3 Honors)
-Pre-Calculus HONORS
-German I/II HONORS (my school offers 2 combined years of languages)
-World Cultures HONORS
-Home Improvement/Study Hall (semesterized)
Do you guys think this is okay? I’m really not the type to do any after-school activities, and I know it’s good to but I really have no interest in anything So I’ll have plenty of time on my hands (at least I believe so).
I even have my potential Senior year classes planned:
-AP Physics 1
-AP Literature and Composition (unsure about still and they don’t offer English 4 Honors)
-AP World History
-AP Calculus AB
-German III HONORS
-Study Hall (full year)
-AP Economics (unsure about still)
Do you think this is complete overkill?
As long as you’re ready to take it, go ahead.
But are you sure about taking Honors Pre-Calc? I mean, if you got a D in Algebra 2 you’ll have to review a lot of stuff in the summer if you want to do well in Pre-Calc.
And no, your Senior Year doesn’t look like overkill to me at all, but it may be at your school. Talk with some upperclassmen or something.
I got a D just for the first quarter. The second quarter ends next week and I currently have a B. Just the beginning of it was difficult since most of those concepts were from Algebra 1, which I had taken in 8th grade - that’s a 2 year gap. And I heard they teach Pre-Calc Regular from the book, unlike Pre-Calc Honors. The students in Algebra 2 Regular are suffering because they teach out of the book and almost an entire section of a chapter is taught in 1 day. I don’t want something similar to that happening to me in Pre-Calc Regular…which is why I’m opting for Honors.
if I got a D in honors alg 2 i would go for regular precalc but if thats the way it goes there then idk.
You need to get down Algebra 2 to do well in Pre-Calc. Don’t overdo and get a C in that class. Maybe take regular Pre-Calc and AP Calc AB if you feel good by senior year.
Algebra 2 is an impacted perquisite. Have the stuff down and move on to pre cal. Btw I got an A & then a B in regular pre cal and now I’m in AP Calculus pulling a C.
