Are you a vegetarian/vegan?

^Look at it this way. Being vegetarian is a choice that certainly isn't harming anyone. I personally find eating a dead cow gross, just as you would probably find eating your cat or dog (if you have one) equally disgusting.

AS more people become vegetarians, the demand for meat decreases. I've read somewhere that the average American eats about 60 animals a year so I'm glad I'm not contributing to that.

Still, most of my friends are omnivores and I'm completely cool with that. While my best friends are having a regular burger, I'll have a veggie burger. It's as simple as that. I don't preach to them about the perils of eating meat just as most (not all) of them don't scrutinize my choice.

Why can't you do the same Foreman? Why do you care about something we're not doing?

To avoid writing another wall of text, I agree with romanigypsyeyes.

Oh, it's devolving into another one of those threads...

I'm vegetarian. I was tired of eating most meats (except bacon/chicken/seafood/ham--I miss those so much :() and a bit sickened by the whole idea of eating animals, so I quit meat cold turkey. It hasn't been that hard, really. & I don't feel like getting into an ideological debate, so I'll ignore the above argument.

lol "cold turkey."

...Gotta love puns.

People who don't understand why people are vegetarian should not be wasting their time on this thread. You are more than welcome to make your own meat-eating thread.

I'm a pescatarian only because I have low protein levels, but hey!

vegan and proud!! :) however i try not to be "holier than thou" cause that doesn't help my cause at all lol

geez I just read through this thread and I've got to say that y'all should stop hating!!! everyone has their own beliefs and it'd be best if everyone would just accept that. It's not going to change anytime soon :]

I'm a meatatarian.

hells no

I would die without meat

I'm not strictly vegetarian... did it for a month once and its not that hard.. but eat chicken and fish. Don't really like red meat, will eat it occasionally, but the taste just doesn't appeal to me. i would much rather like yoghurt lol I'm not a big eater in general

I enjoyed a well-cooked pound of lean steak last week right after working out. Replenished my iron reserves. Good stuff iibh.

One of my friends developed food poisoning from eating too many raw vegetables yesterday (this person is a vegetarian).

I THINK WE ALL SEE WHAT'S THE SMARTER CHOICE NOW

Was a vegetarian for about 10 months. Thanksgiving rolled around..and well, ya.

Birthday is today, made a promise to myself to commit this time! =]

I was planning on becoming a vegan during Lent until I realized that Ash Wednesday is really soon. I'm not sure if I'm ready to stop eating food with egg and cheese in it, especially since I wont be able to buy substitutes.

^Happy Birthday Journalismbuddha!

^^Happy b-day journalismbuddha!

I'm an ovo-lacto vegetarian. I have been for four years now.
Meat just disgusts me at this point, so it's not hard to stay with it.

^^^Happy birthday, journalismbuddha. =] Good luck.

Ha ha wow it was probably not a good idea for me to read this entire thread because now I must respond. To those of you who say that you could never stop eating meat and leave it at that, I respect your decision for what it is, I am not going to argue with you. What is incredibly ammusing are those who are arguing against vegetarianism with completely ignorant and ludicrous statements. If you do not have the conviction and passion to stand up for animal rights then don't say anything at all. I have been a vegetarian for over six years and the one thing that all vegatarians including the ones on here should know is that your decision is good and that its not worth getting into worthless fights with the people who choose to make farcical accusations about your dietary choices.

This is a great site for those of you vegetarians and vegans that are interested: How To Win An Argument With a Meat-Eater

For those who want to become vegetarians, it is easier than you think. There are so many meat alternatives and wonderful veggie cookbooks out there, it just takes a little research and it is so worth it. Good luck to you!

i'm vegan. my one-year anniversary is coming up, and i feel way healthier than i ever did being an omnivore or even a lacto-ovo vegetarian.

reading about the way animals are treated prompted me to become a vegetarian two years ago. one day i realized that dairy cows and laying hens are treated just as badly as beef cows/chickens so i decided to give up eggs and dairy.

^That's awesome. How hard was it for you to become vegan?

Nobody's preaching. I don't think less of people for eating meat, I think less of people who hate on others for not eating meat. You confirmed my point about the people on here making nonsensical arguments.
