Are you going to do an overnight stay?

At first I was a little apprehensive about this idea; but, the more I think about it, the more exciting it sounds. I don't know which of the 4 open houses to pick though.

Anyone else here planning to do it? And if so, which one?

i want to do an over night stay jus to see what it would be like.....but i don't know when i'm gonna do it........

yes. for sure
if they offer it might as well take advantage of it and get to know the campus at night.

they set you up with someone in you major and if you are doing scholars they will set you up with someone in the cambridge community and the program you are doing. For business i will be in cambridge hall so when i spend the night, as long as there is room, I will be in that hall with someone with my interests. You get free bowling games, free pool games, and a free movie to watch at the theater. The person you are with is suppossed to introduce you to their friends and not leave you alone. you bring a toothbrush, a pillow and a sleeping bag. The next morning you can go to the orrientation things they have so you get everything done. I don't see why anyone would not, expecially if they live close

What date are you doing it cheapseats?

i havn't decided yet...

ughh i wanna go so bad...i live in long island tho =/..it's a bit too far...sucks. sounds like a great idea but i'll be at open house though!

A word of advice-make your reservations early. There is a limit on the overnight slots and last year they filled up very quickly. Enjoy your visits, UMDCP is a great school.

I did an overnight stay this weekend and it was so much fun. There was a lot to do and the girl i was with was extremely friendly. It was a great chance to just hang out on campus & talk to current students. I would highly recommend it.

ugh soo lucky you are! i really wish i could but leaving thursday wont get me there til like, 11 pm. which sucksss.

=/
but i'm glad you had fun! :)

eskimo more info please :D

Anybody else do one that they wanna share stories about?? I'm nervous to go on one cuz I'm so shy I'm afraid I won't get along with my host haha.

i think i might go on another spring open house. UMD is so close to me that I can go anyday. Really if I starter from my house with just 5 dollars I could get there with a bus and the metro

terphopeful-- most of the hosts are really really friendly!! there is an application process so it's not just anyone. and we (i used to host) try REALLLLLY hard to get along with you guys, too. i've had a couple pretty strange girls stay with me but we had a good time anyway.

that said, when i stayed overnight i did not like my host at all and she pretty much ignored me. but i came to UMD anyway. :)

i'd definitely recommend trying to stay overnight.

another thing you could do is the adopt-a-student program; there's info about that in the 'visit' section of the admissions website. basically you spend a day with a student, going to classes etc. it's a lot less intimidating than an overnight stay, and you get more "real" time.

woah lindz, that "adopt-a-student" program sounds really cool..i love the info ur feeding us on this website..haha ur def making me love umd more and more (if that's even possible). hope to see u there one day! (again, since i already saw u at the open house, lol)

adopt-a-student is awesome; i had someone come around with me one day and even though i was bored out of my mind in my classes, he seemed to love it!!

i'd better see you at UMD--i expect you to facebook me as soon as you create an account.

hahah facebook is one of the reasons i'm going to college ;)

lol no, but it does seem to be quite the..epidemic for college students. yeah so umd is like, my husband right now and i'm ready to just drive there at 7:00 at night cuz i'm crazy.

and this adopt-a-student business...u bet i'm gonna beg my parents to take another day off to drive me to maryland haha =P
