a combination of 1 or 2–1 i like to see myself improve…2-i don’t like to see the dumbass who sleeps in class get a better grade on a test just because they have natural talent for school

I tend toward #1 I think, more so recently than in the past. No one particularly pressures me to work as hard as I do, but I want to.

Both! I don’t like to see myself fail or do bad so I put a lot of pressure on myself, but I am definitely motivated to do better than my friends and peers

For me I’m definitely motivated by competition. I guess because I want to be better than most people, I push myself a lot harder. So I guess it’s kind of like a mix of 1 and 2.

It’s kinda like I do my best tumbling in cheerleading when I see that my other teammates are getting more tumbling than me.

Im both cuz i like the feeling of winning and being the best and i want to get that feeling however i can get it by getting a 100 on a test or winning a competition. But, my rents r also pushing me to get into the ivies

I strive for others. Around seven billion of them.

To be totally honest, CC has recently inspired me to do so much more~ seeing what others take on gives me ideas of what I can do.

I motivate myself, but I admit some of it is for bragging rights. My parents do motivate me to do some things, but they leave me to my own devices when it comes to academics and EC’s. Fortunately, they never check my grades online, and they trust me to keep them updated, which I do.

both. Hard to tell.

Number 3. I don’t excel in school.

a little of both

Used to be 2… now its fully 1.
It has to be, people surrounding me aren’t doing nearly enough.

Both. I love school and learning new things so that helps out along with wanting to make my parents proud.

2 because my mom really motivates me and goes freaking berserk if I get anything lower than a A. Also, I’m a secretly competitive person at school so that greatly helps.

Both, but sadly, a bit more number two. I’m motivated by competition.

I have a huge fear of failure, so definitely 1. Also, most of my best/close friends don’t care about school whatsoever and aren’t in the same level classes as I am, so they can’t really motivate me. :)

1, by far. No family member that I am aware of has done any better than two years at my state’s university, and most just have their GEDs and stopped at that. The only exception is a cousin in Oregon who I have never met who recently got a residency from med school. I have never talked to my guidance counselor, and my friends find school pointless for the most part (although they are extremely intelligent).

I just want to be better than everyone else…
But for sports, definitely 1.

I’m motivated by myself. Being motivated by others will always set one up for disappointment, as their will always be someone better. And I dont like living to others’ standards; I live according to my own. It sounds weird, but I am most successful when I ignore the competition and focus on myself

You excel in school due to pressure/motivation from parents, friends, peers, etc.

2, most definitely. If it weren’t for my parents and my friendly competitors, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
