I am from S.C. and am going to move to Arkansas. I am in my first year of college now and will be a transfer student. Is there any way i can avoid the OOS fees? I don't mind paying them for the first year but after that, I won't be able to afford it again. Anyone know if Ark. is strict with their residency policy for OOS Students?

Most schools do NOT allow you to establish instate residency WHILE you are attending college as an out of state student. In other words...if you are a resident of SC..it is highly likely that you will be considered an OOS student for tuition purposes in Arkansas. The only way to avoid this...is to have your WHOLE family move to Arkansas with you. In most cases, undergrad students are residents of the state in which their PARENTS reside. If your parents reside in SC...that would be your instate residency state. Sorry...but your family just isn't paying taxes to support the schools in Arkansas and that is why YOU would be paying OOS tuition.
