Arrival Day

I looked on the Academic calender and saw that arrival day for new students is the 20-21st of August for the Fall semester. I've experienced arrival day this summer and it was a huge headache but I'm pretty sure the Fall will be even worst.

Is it possible to come in a day early or are they very strict and stick to the schedule?

Yes you can but housing will charge you a fee per day you show up early. I would contact them about this before heading up there early.

As said above it is possible. I personally would recommend it. I got up to UP early every semester I lived in the dorms; as I watched people struggling to hurry and unload amongst the large crowds I knew I made the right decision not to be too cheap ;).

How much extra does it cost? Anyone know?

I recall it being around $20 a day.

Oh, that’s not bad. I was expecting hundreds for some reason.

It is $18/day.

What I’d like to know is… do you just show up? Or do you have to make arrangements with the housing office before you get there early?

I asked them about it last year and they said to call them to inform them of my early arrival.

FYI though, most, if not all, of the food services will not be open prior to move in. So if you are all moved in early you would have to fend for yourself meal wise.
