<p>I am a Caucasian male. I'm going to apply early to MIT this fall. It is by faaaar my absolute first choice and dream school.
I go to one of the top 10 consistently ranked high schools in the nation (out of 20,000 or so).</p>

<p>-Guitar - been HEAVILY involved all of high school. Gotten pretty good too ;) One of my few biggest passions. I think it has helped shape the person I am now, contributing to concentration, practice, patience. But mostly, I play for the absolute joy of playing!</p>
<p>-Cycling - Been cycling for a while now. I started out on my own for a bit, but I joined a community-involved youth cycling club; I spend a great deal of time with them. Moments like the end of a 5000ft climb are some of the most rewarding experiences. I am starting to race at a somewhat competetive statewide level.</p>
<p>-Work: Been with the local county government since I was 14. In total, probably about 800 hours spent there. Great experience, great people. It's very interesting learning about the inner-workings of bureaucracy and the surrounding community and economy.</p>
<p>-President of environment club - I am very environmentally aware. This is probably my largest political stance and I have considered a profession in the fields of energy and efficiency. It also gave me some leadership abilities and skills. Initiated and assisted several events like park cleanups and tree plantings. Good times!</p>
<p>-Other various, less impactful things (NHS, Comedy Club, casual soccer, Calculus tutoring)</p>
<p>-Also, I run and swim on my own on top of cycling. Done some official runs. Moving into triathlons (verrrry exciting!)</p>
<p>Basically, I <3 Math+Physics, Music, and Cycling</p>
<p>Other: I volunteered as a camp counselor the last two years at a educational camp for kids in Oregon. I was essentially the parent and teacher of 7 kids for a week. I could ramble on forever about how amazing this was. I really will carry those few weeks with me for the rest of my life.</p>
<p>I have great recommendations and references lined up already.
I've been thinking about interview and application questions for a while and once the application is available in August, I will work my best until the deadline and try my hardest to convey myself to the admission reps. What do you think my chances are at MIT and why? I would appreciate any and all feedback :)</p>
Oh, and your scores are obviously fine. I think you’ve a better chance than many other applicants, but of course chance is a large factor.</p>
