Im looking to double major in the arts and computer science in college. Does anyone have an suggestions for schools to look into? I’m in the tristate area and would like to stay in the general vicinity of that.
For reference, schools i’m considering: Carnegie Mellon, and Northeastern
Thank you so much for any suggestions!
Take a look at Case Western and Rochester.
Hamilton.
There are many “tristate areas” (none of which include both CMU and NE, afaik). Where exactly are you looking to stay?
@ed4566 What type of “arts”? Are you talking fine arts like painting or theater or something else. The arts are pretty broad. If you were into fine arts and CS you might look at programs at art schools, like RISD who have specialized programs for people who like to work digitally ( too many to mention here). But if you mean you want to do a combo painting/CS degree than you would likely need a different school possibly very large( Like BU/NYU) so you could go a wide range of courses.
It also depends on what tier of schools you are looking at. Some ( like RISD) would require a portfolio for arts. Others might be more open.
Hi! Sorry just saw this- I hadn’t realized there were multiple tri-state areas lol. I live in New Jersey, so I had wanted to stay within 4 hours of my home (which is roughly the tristate area, and then some).
Yes sorry should have been more specific, I was planning on submitting a mostly visual arts portfolio, but I want to major more in graphic design and 3D modeling with the aim of reaching a carreer like animator, or in game/ UI design.
Have you looked into NJIT’s programs in your areas of interest?
hey! you should take a look at NYU IMA or IDM, it’s a combined major in art and tech. you also have options to double major in CS like CS + Studio Art or CS + IMA or CS + Game Design.
Wesleyan, but I would have to know more about your grades and extracurriculars.
